Pownal Town Committee Caucus and Reorg

Vermont law requires political parties to reorganize every two years, with town, county and state caucuses meeting to dissolve and reorganize their committees. Our Pownal  "Reorg" will be on September 21st at 3pm at the Solomon Wright Public Library.

We’ll convene a caucus to which anyone who is registered to vote in Pownal and is not caucusing with another political party is welcome. The caucus will elect the new Pownal Democratic Town Committee, which will then nominate and elect a chair, vice chair, treasurer, secretary, and two delegates and two alternates to the Bennington County Democratic Committee.

Reorg is a great opportunity to look back on what we've accomplished since Pownal was organized only two years ago, but more important, to begin working together to recruit and elect/re-elect candidates in 2026 who share our party's values to local, state and national offices.

The caucus is more fun than it sounds! And we'll have time to socialize afterwards. But for now, please consider whether you'd be interested in a leadership position in our Town Committee and reach out to the current leadership team if interested.  The current leadership team is Beth Sturgeon (chair/delegate), Megan Randall (vice chair), Leslie Morgenthal (treasurer), Julie Mackaman (secretary), Helen Olshever (delegate), Jonathan Cooper (alt delegate), David Fowle (alt delegate).
