Bennington County Democrats Invite Public to Join in Building a Stronger Future – “It’s Now or Never”

Bennington, VT — The Bennington County Democratic Committee (BennDems) is calling on Democrats across the region to come together for its County Reorganization Meeting on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The meeting will take place on the second floor of the Bennington Free Library, located at 101 Silver Street in Bennington, Vermont. It will serve as both a celebration of the committee’s growing strength and a critical planning session for the years ahead.

This pivotal gathering comes at a time of historic momentum for Democrats in Bennington County, which now boasts the most significant growth of any county Democratic committee in Vermont — a remarkable 40% increase in membership over the past two years. That surge reflects the passion and dedication of residents who are stepping forward to shape their communities and their country’s future.

“We’re building something powerful here in Bennington County, and it’s because people are stepping up, speaking out, and getting involved,” said Jonathan West, Chair of the Bennington County Democratic Committee. “But this is just the beginning. We have critical work ahead — to win in 2026, and to be ready to take our country back in 2028. Sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option. It’s now or never.”

At the October 11 meeting, BennDems will elect new county officers, including Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Data Director, Fundraising Director, and Political Director, as well as two members and three alternates to the Vermont Democratic State Committee. The meeting is open to all Democrats in Bennington County, and participation is strongly encouraged, regardless of whether attendees are official delegates. The event will also set the strategic direction for the next two years of grassroots organizing, local engagement, and statewide collaboration.

To inspire and inform that work, the reorganization meeting will feature two special guest speakers:

  • Jim Ramsey, Chair of the Vermont Democratic Party

  • Amy Siskind, nationally recognized activist, author, and movement builder

Virtual participation is available by request by emailing chair@benndems.org. Space is limited, and those interested are encouraged to request access early.

“This is not just a meeting — it’s a rallying point,” West added. “Our focus is on creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect with the leaders and changemakers who are shaping our future. Together, we’ll build a Democratic Party that not only wins elections, but transforms lives.”
